Cervical refers to the neck. Cervical spondylosis,
is arthritis of the neck. Spondylosis is a condition
involving changes to the bones, discs, and joints of
the neck. With age, the discs of the cervical spine
gradually break down, lose fluid, and become stiffer.
Cervical spondylosis usually occurs in middle-aged
and elderly people.
In some patients spurs or abnormal growths of bone
may form around and within the spinal canal. These
abnormal growths can cause a narrowing of the spi-
nal canal called
Cervical Stenosis.
If the spinal canal becomes too narrowed it can
place an undue amount of pressure on the spinal
cord. This can cause a disease of the spinal cord
called
Myelopathy.
