REPLACEMENT
An Artificial Disc Replacement (ADR), some-
times called an Arthroplasty, is a newer non
fusion treatment option Dr. Pazmiño offers
certain patients with neck and back problems.
Dr. Pazmiño can insert these artificial discs in
the space between the two vertebrae. The goal
of an arthroplasty is to replace the stiffened dis-
eased or damaged disc with an implant which
helps restore your normal neck or back motion.
These arthroplasties have been designed for the
neck (cervical region) and back (lumbar spine).
Candidates for this procedure have:
* An interest in returning to an active lifestyle
* A dedication towards fitness
* A need to maximize their mobility
* Significant pain despite a course of at least six
months of treatment such as pain medication, a
back brace, or physical therapy
* Severe Arm or Leg pain
* Severe Neck or Back pain
* Good bone quality to support the arthroplasty
* Diagnostic tests (MRI, CT, myelogram) showing
that you have a herniated, stiffened, or
degenerated disc
* Significant weakness requiring surgery
